Barad Sar, a high altitude glacial lake is the holiest site for people living in the Tons Valley. The lake is considered an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. Almost every adult from our region makes a regular pilgrimage to this lake in summer and autumn to offer their prayers at the lake!
Devotees carry wheat flour and sugar with them to make a sweet offering to the deity. Some devotees, especially shepherds, bring with them a goat which is sacrificed and the meat consumed after offering to the deity.
